CBD Oil for Wrinkles: Does It Actually Work?

CBD oil may be used as a stress reliever or as a joint rub after exercise or before bedtime. CBD probably sounds familiar to you, but what’s the connection between CBD and wrinkles?

CBD, or cannabidiol, occurs naturally in marijuana. Tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, is the active ingredient in cannabis that gets you high. CBD, however, has a host of medicinal benefits. CBD is now being used by more and more consumers to treat a wide range of conditions, from insomnia to nausea to depression and muscle pain.

Now it’s no surprise that CBD is being used in every kind of facial serum, gel, mask, and cream, which all claim to be beneficial to different skin types. Others help prevent pimples, others calm wrinkles, and still others reduce dry skin.

What’s the process? In addition to other powerful antioxidants, CBD can help reduce signs of aging. As a result, CBD topicals can relieve inflammation and reduce free radical damage to the skin, thereby minimizing the appearance of aging signs such as wrinkles, ruddy skin tones, and dull skin.

Causes of Skin Aging

Exposure to sunlight and ultraviolet (UV) light is the major cause of visible skin aging. Furthermore, pollution, unhealthy diet, stress, and other lifestyle factors should be considered. Our bodies naturally age and cause some changes in our skin which contribute to visible aging.

After the age of 20 or so, the skin becomes less elastic and firm, since the body produces less collagen and elastin each year. As we age, our skin becomes more delicate and less able to heal itself.

Though aging can’t be prevented, there are things we can do to slow, prevent, and sometimes reverse premature aging. This is particularly true given that a great deal of the factors that cause skin to age (such as excessive sunlight exposure and poor diet) come from outside of our bodies.

The question is, how could CBD help reduce or mitigate the impacts these factors play when it comes to signs of aging?

What Is CBD Oil?

The Cannabis sativa plant contains a chemical called CBD, which is non-intoxicating and non-toxic. Therefore, it occurs naturally both in hemp plants and in marijuana plants. Hemp oil, coconut oil or olive oil are usually used to suspend CBD powder in an oil. Each of these oils has its own benefits that could enhance the effectiveness of CBD. Since CBD is fat-soluble, each suspension may increase CBD’s potency.

Cannabis’ psychoactive constituent, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), cannot be found in skincare products.

Both CBD oil and hemp seed oil are great for the skin. The CBD concentration of the two products differs even though businesses frequently market them interchangeably. Though derived from hemp plant seeds, hemp seed oil only contains traces of CBD, if any at all. Hemp seed oil is a good source of omega 3 and omega 6 essential fatty acids, and many of these acids are known to moisturize the skin, such as alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and gamma-linolenic acid (GLA).

There is a significant difference in the concentration of CBD in CBD oil. A variety of CBD products are regulated by the FDA, meaning they must be labeled with an ingredient listing that actually includes cannabidiol and should use the International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI). It is important to notice that any alternative designations or terms that are found on ingredient labels could signal either the presence of cannabidiol or the absence thereof. It is not true that hemp seed oil “enriched with CBD” is the same as hemp oil containing cannabidiol. It is always possible to ask the company for the assay or specification of the product to be 100 percent certain how what you are ordering will be.

What Does CBD in Skincare Do?

CBD and skin care work together in broad terms, but we are just beginning to learn how they work together. Topical CBD products and CBD products in the body work together.

Phytocannabinoids (plant cannabinoids) like CBD are produced in wide variety. The human body produces its own cannabinoids naturally throughout the endocannabinoid system, or ECS, and those cannabinoids are called endocannabinoids. In the body, endocannabinoids bind as neurotransmitters with the CB1 and CB2 cannabinoid receptors throughout the brain and body. They help achieve stasis and regulate many internal functions such as appetite, hormones, immune system, mood, sleep, and more.

A person’s ECS is not always able to control all body functions and cannabinoids to the right level. Phytocannabinoids from cannabis have a number of benefits for the body, which is why its introduction can aid the body’s health.

CBD Oil vs CBD Topicals for Wrinkles on the Skin

Do not smoke for your skin, no matter what. This is a failure. It doesn’t matter whether you smoke cannabis, regular cigarettes, or CBD flower, smoking isn’t ideal for anti-aging. While smoking can create free radicals, other organic materials in cannabis plants as well as some vape oils contain compounds that are not good for your lungs or skin when burnt and inhaled by you.

This essentially leaves you with CBD topicals like face creams and balms as well as CBD oils. It is acceptable to consume high-quality CBD oil or CBD extract by mouth in the context of anti-aging. You may experience the effects more quickly if you hold the product under your tongue to absorb.

Nevertheless, topical CBD lotions and creams are also an effective treatment for anti-aging and wrinkles, especially when applied directly to the targeted areas. These products often also contain essential oils, vitamin E, and other skin nourishing compounds that boost the skin’s health by encouraging additional collagen production, tightening the skin and enhancing its moisture levels.

How Does CBD Treat Aging?

It’s no wonder that wrinkles are so common: there are so many reasons to get wrinkles, and they often occur before we ever take care of ourselves. Apparently, our faces can show the effects of everything from a genetic predisposition to crow’s feet to sun exposure to extensive stress.

CBD topicals help reduce issues such as dullness, wrinkles, and ruddy skin tone by combating antioxidants.

CBD oil helps combat wrinkles and reduce signs of the aging process in the following ways:

Has an Antioxidant Effect

CBD from hemp plants has even more powerful antioxidant properties than vitamin C and E combined. The antioxidants in these foods reduce free radicals, which cause damage throughout the body, including the collagen fibers. Not only does CBD fight externally sourced free radicals but also natural free radicals generated during the human body’s processes, the body’s toxins.

Fights Inflammation

Inflammation, redness, and tension caused by chronic inflammation can be reduced with CBD, if you combine it with the anti-inflammatory properties. Topical CBD is also effective against eczema and psoriasis because it has anti-inflammatory properties. Additionally, GLA and omega 3 essential fatty acids reduce inflammation and help to moisturize the skin.

Encourages Sebum Production

Sebum production in the face plays a major role in treating both acne and aging signs. In terms of sebum production, hemp oil and CBD both regulate the oil glands. A more supple and smoother complexion is associated with optimal sebum production.

Soothes Sensitive Skin

CBD oil is also noted for its skin-normalizing, skin-soothing, and skin-calming properties, together with a reduction in reactivity and redness. The skin will be more able to handle the rigors of everyday exposure to environmental stresses with these benefits.

It’s likely that you think of CBD primarily as preventing skin damage when you think about anti-aging properties. The antioxidant properties of CBD may, however, be beneficial in reversing existing aging signs. In addition to applying CBD topicals to the skin, the following other ways could help you look younger:

  • A lower cortisol level means fewer skin issues because it leads to less stress.
  • Pain management can reduce wrinkle-causing facial movements, especially chronic pain.
  • Better quality sleep improves health overall.
